In the Sun Week 5

In Natalie's last posting she mentioned we don't have to do EVERY prompt and I thought, "Oh good because I don't always feel each one and or I don't have the time." These are the ones that jumped out at me so I did them!

21 - Beach Playlist

My Beach Playlist consists of

  • Let's go Surfing Now
  • Margaritaville
  • It's 5'oclock Somewhere
  • California Girls
  • Under the Boardwalk
  • Anything by these artists: Colbie Caillat, Jason Mraz, and of course...The Beach Boys
22 - Summer Memories

My Summer Memories page says" My favorite summer memories are of winging on swings, chasing fireflies with my cousins, gulping down homemade lemonade or sweet tea, Enjoying Life

23 - A Quote

My quote/Theme for the summer and now on is:

At the end of each day, I want to feel good about how I spend my time that day. I know that is I do that, at the end of my life, I will feel peaceful and good about how I spent my life. Plus it will make for a lot of really great days.

24 - Secret Siestas

Right outside my backyard is this awesome tree that always look like the perfect little reading or napping spot.

Nan's Niche

If you remember Nan won my green bracelet and I just now am getting caught up on my internet too I guess cuz I just saw she posted about her win! Thank so much for the Trackback and I am glad you are enjoying the bracelet. I will be doing other giveaways so make sure you stayed tuned for more.

Summer of Color-Downtown Brown

Brown brown the color brown...You would think it is an easy color, there is Brown in trees, brown on some floors, Brown in many recycled things, this weeks Summer of Color-Was BROWN, There are a few songs about BROWN but not a lot.

Songs About The Color Brown

Jim Croce - Bad Bad Leroy Brown
Mint Condition - Breakin' My Heart Pretty Brown Eyes
D'Angelo - Brown Sugar
The Rolling Stones - Brown Sugar
The Coasters - Charlie Brown
Crystal Gayle - Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue (1977)
Herman's Hermits - Mrs. Brown You've Got A Lovely Daughter

Van Morrison - Brown Eyed Girl

This is the song I have always  liked, but then again I am a Brown Eyed Girl so why wouldn't I? But also because it takes me back to night dancing on Catalina Island around a fire pit and someone playing the guitar and laughing and having a good time. Then I thought of how everyone out on Catalina recycled everything. It cost so much for trash pick up because it was an island and most of the kids were homeschooled so these recycled things made great projects.

I did my usual wear some brown but I forgot to take any pictures of me this week so I am adding an old picture with the outfit I wore this week for my inspiration. I love this little Brown Summer outfit. It gave me great inspiration this week.

This got me to thinking about the color Brown and recycled things and I decided to make a mini journal this week. Not to FILL the journal but to MAKE one that someone else could fill in.

I started with an old cracker box and cut off the sides. I wanted to use another color to ff set all the brown so I painted the front and back Green for my Bold Shot of Color challenge!

Then I gathered my Brown pieces together, Brown Paper, Brown Paint, add on pieces that had brown in them and other small items. I found some cute Brown mini card stock and glued it down to the box.

Then I cut out the center where the leaf was and added some stickers.

I added some stickers to the back too!

I added some smaller pieces on the inside

Filled it with other journal pages

and added some cute embellishments

The final project! TADA!

Are you ready for the surprise, out of the middle of nowhere ending to this blog that you didn't see coming??? Well, are ya? I thought so!

As a thank you for all the wonderful ideas, prompts, and hard work...I am GIVING THIS TO KRISTIN at TwinkleTwinkleLikeaStar!! Yay Kristin!!! Woot woot! I tried to get your addy from Michelle secretively to send it to you, but as a good friend she did not give out your address without your permission. (Which btw makes it very hard to send a secret gift when you have to ask the person) :)

So I did the next best thing that came to mind....Secret Surprise!

Thank you so SOOOOOOOOOOOO much for all the fun ideas and challenges. Not only these prompts but seeing others work has really challenged me creatively and really helped my work improve! My goal to be more Creative is a success and I want to thank you from the bottom of my Mod Podge, Collaging, Creative heart! LOL! :)

Summer of Color-Yellow Me Baby!

This last week we were to work on our Yellow. As hard as I tried I just couldn't Yellow it up. I started out feeling Yellow and Happy but I ended up desiring to wear RED most of the week. I decided to do something simple but still fun for my Yellow Project. AS always here are a few images to Yellow It Up and my Project is at the end...

Yellow Inspiration Card I made a long time ago!

Bees picture I won from Cottage Grove Blog

Yellow Papya Lotion to keep me smelly Yellow Pretty
My other Yellow Inspirational items

Wore my Yellow Dress on Monday...

My Bag and Stich Glue!

Liquid Stitch Glue

Yellow Candy to keep me sweet :)

I folded over the edges and added the glue

I also folded over the other sides inside out to make my bag and glued it...

Fed the ribbon through  by attaching a safety pin to the ribbon then pulling it through

Laid it out to dry a few hours

TADA! My Cute Little Yellow bag!

In the Sun Week 4

16 - Summer Rain
17 - Summertime in Flight
18 - Summer Trends
19 - Road Trip Playlist

Summer Rain-What I like to do on Rainy Summer Days is mostly read, play video games, or cuddle

17 - Summertime in Flight
The bugs that fly in our are of Iowa that are common and the ones I don't mind too much are below:)

I like doing two page spreads I think :)

Cicadas, Dragonflies, Bees and Ladybugs
 18 - Summer Trends

The Summer Trend I seem to be joining in on is the Sundresses or Sundresses and Boots look. I wore a cute sundress to a concert we had this year called 80/35 and I threw my boots on for good looks. I sure got some heads turning and a lot of "Great Look" comments from the passers by!!

I chose to do a  simple page for the Summer Trends. Mostly because I spent so much time on the Road Trip page because I am doing something for SR2 that has a Road Trip theme so it kept me busy! I am looking for a big boot sticker and I might cut out some sundresses later, but for right now this is ok.

19 - Road Trip Playlist add to the page jsut like Natalie did (because I too love I added my Playlist below. Go to and make your own for your Vacation, for Summer or for any reason at all!

Fun "In the Sun"-Week 3

11 - Take A Vacation!
12 - Stay Cool
13 - Summer Wishlist
14 - Triple Dog Dare (Not done yet because she said I must have pictures)
15 - I just HAVE to...

These are the ones for week three and I must say I had to really think hard about some of these...

Just Have To and Stay Cool

Just Have To
Just Have to have ice cream, eat watermelon, eat sweet treats like cakes, etc, go on a Weekend Getaway, lather in the sun and get sun kissed

Stay Cool
I also Just Have to Stay Cool and have a BBQ, make smores, and splish ans splash in a body of water somewhere!

Now for the Vacation piece I must share the song that I kept thinking about... Vacation by the Go Go's. It wouldn't let me embed it but you can click on the link Click Here

For my Vacation's I love to go to a Beach or be by a body of water that even has a Fake Beach. I am originally from California and I love the Beach and living in Iowa right now suck in the summer because we don't have a REAL beach but at least there are a few lakes with some Fake Beaches!

I also really love to go on a Road Trip which is funny cuz Natalie just gave that to us as a Prompt but I already used this sticker and put it in this one so I guess I will just have to be creative for the Road Trip one...oh darn :)
Summer Wish List
I was inspired by TWO blogs to do a Summer Wish List and I decided to do that this way instead of in my Art Journal book for In the Sun. If you want to read more about this and the blog Pink and Green Mama Blog go here to check it out Click Here

As I said above I don't have my Triple Dog Dare yet and will have to add that later. It will be a surprise because it is something I always wanted to do but haven't yet and I am going to take a class for it but they can't get me in yet. Once I do then I will snap up some shots of me and make my page!

Thanks so much for this class. It is so much fun and I am really enjoying myself! :)
