Summer of Color-Downtown Brown

Brown brown the color brown...You would think it is an easy color, there is Brown in trees, brown on some floors, Brown in many recycled things, this weeks Summer of Color-Was BROWN, There are a few songs about BROWN but not a lot.

Songs About The Color Brown

Jim Croce - Bad Bad Leroy Brown
Mint Condition - Breakin' My Heart Pretty Brown Eyes
D'Angelo - Brown Sugar
The Rolling Stones - Brown Sugar
The Coasters - Charlie Brown
Crystal Gayle - Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue (1977)
Herman's Hermits - Mrs. Brown You've Got A Lovely Daughter

Van Morrison - Brown Eyed Girl

This is the song I have always  liked, but then again I am a Brown Eyed Girl so why wouldn't I? But also because it takes me back to night dancing on Catalina Island around a fire pit and someone playing the guitar and laughing and having a good time. Then I thought of how everyone out on Catalina recycled everything. It cost so much for trash pick up because it was an island and most of the kids were homeschooled so these recycled things made great projects.

I did my usual wear some brown but I forgot to take any pictures of me this week so I am adding an old picture with the outfit I wore this week for my inspiration. I love this little Brown Summer outfit. It gave me great inspiration this week.

This got me to thinking about the color Brown and recycled things and I decided to make a mini journal this week. Not to FILL the journal but to MAKE one that someone else could fill in.

I started with an old cracker box and cut off the sides. I wanted to use another color to ff set all the brown so I painted the front and back Green for my Bold Shot of Color challenge!

Then I gathered my Brown pieces together, Brown Paper, Brown Paint, add on pieces that had brown in them and other small items. I found some cute Brown mini card stock and glued it down to the box.

Then I cut out the center where the leaf was and added some stickers.

I added some stickers to the back too!

I added some smaller pieces on the inside

Filled it with other journal pages

and added some cute embellishments

The final project! TADA!

Are you ready for the surprise, out of the middle of nowhere ending to this blog that you didn't see coming??? Well, are ya? I thought so!

As a thank you for all the wonderful ideas, prompts, and hard work...I am GIVING THIS TO KRISTIN at TwinkleTwinkleLikeaStar!! Yay Kristin!!! Woot woot! I tried to get your addy from Michelle secretively to send it to you, but as a good friend she did not give out your address without your permission. (Which btw makes it very hard to send a secret gift when you have to ask the person) :)

So I did the next best thing that came to mind....Secret Surprise!

Thank you so SOOOOOOOOOOOO much for all the fun ideas and challenges. Not only these prompts but seeing others work has really challenged me creatively and really helped my work improve! My goal to be more Creative is a success and I want to thank you from the bottom of my Mod Podge, Collaging, Creative heart! LOL! :)
