SteamPunk Femme Face

I drew this SteamPunk Femme Face some time ago with a variety of pencils but hadn't figured out how I wanted to finish it. I had other challenges on my plate so this kind of was put on a shelf. Yesterday I had to go to Hobby Lobby and get some graphite paper to transfer something onto a canvas I want to do (one I have already drawn and don't want to do it again) and while I was waiting for the employee to be able to get to me to answer a questions I walked around.

I found a great book on Drawing and Coloring digitally SteamPunk Characters and I just HAD to get it. IT was bent to heck and it was the last one so I asked and my Trisha charm won them over I guess because they gave me 40% off!!

So after a few other things I had to do today, I pulled this pic out and colored away!

Now you see the results and the first of many more SteamPunk Femme Faces and Figures to come!!

What do you think?

Beach Girl

I started this one originally for my friend's birthday but then I happened to be working on the Mermaid challenge at the same time so I sent him that one instead. But I will send him this one too now that I am done (even though it is a bit late). You see he is a former surfer boy. Grew up in Huntington Beach. Lives on the beach now. He is one of those boys that loves his Beach Girls.

Plus I have been trying to do more figures, especially since I saw I have hit the halfway point on my faces (25 faces woo hoo) but I still need 13 more figures to equate. So I am pulling out the ones I have been wanting to color and getting those drawn and colored.

So what do you think of my Beach Girl (Ok I confess this one was adapted from a picture of me jsut like Strawberonade Fairy was as well. We ARE our own best subjects aren't we?)

Summer of Color-Wonderful World of Watermelon Whimsy

Being that this is our last Color Challenge for Twinkle Like a Star I wanted to do something REALLY fun for our color WATERMELON.

As I have said I have been taking many of Tam from Willowing's classes leveraging the knowledge of my own from past Graphic Design experience. This week I started her World of Whimsy course and we were to create a person. I wanted to do a person, but I wanted more than that for this week's SOC 2 so I incorporated her into another Photoshop Document and created for her, her won Whimsical World of Watermelon. I wanted to make it large enough that it could be a wallpaper if anyone wants it so please right click and save, then Set as Desktop for something fun to look at. If you do use it as wallpaper, would you comment below if you saved it or used it as wallpaper? I would really love to know how many people liked anough to do that! :) How exciting to know my art is on someone's computer!!

So enough chatter, her is my girl and her Wonderful World of Watermelon Whimsy

Summer of Color Mermaid

The weeks are counting down til the end of the Summer of Color: Ice Cream Inspiration series over at Twinkle Like a Star and I was started to get worried I would never see a blue/green combination but lo an behold, we got one! Wild and Reckless! Aren't the Colors below just fab!? Well, I think so because they were JUST the right colors I needed/wanted for a Mermaid I have been DYING to draw and color.

I have finished up all the Digital Dreams courses from Tam at Willowing and I think I really have a better handle on coloring Digitally now. I am sure I could use more training but I am getting more amazed at even myself on how much better I am getting at figures, faces and especially coloring!!

Check out my Mermaid below and tell me what you think?

Brave Girl Birdie Babe-Featured on BG

Well, I am finally done with all of Tam's Digital Dreams Course! Wow talk  about a challenge for the last one! I am not used to creating things "Completely Digital". Making a face, eyes, pupils, the little whites of your eyes, a nose, the shading in your nose, the lips, the neck, the arms, the hair, good grief. IT is alot of work!! Then there is learning how to use Dodge and Burn. Which one makes things darker and which one makes things lighter. I also learned about Brushes and then she had me at Hello! Wow! I didn't know so much could be done with brushes!! To some (I argue with the new boyfriend on this) they should not be called Brushes they should be called Stamps. I understand what he means, but nevertheless, that is what they are called. I didn't do the homework as assigned, but then I was never one to follow the rules much. :) I did however create many things in the fashion of which she said but then I also used brushes and Free Transform and things I learned from her as well as what I knew from my previous classes at Irvine Valley College.

So here she is and then i will explain.

I drew her face, eyes, eyebrows, neck and body.
I used the elliptical to make the eyes for the color and the same for the pupils. I used the Transform tool to tweak it a bit.
I used an Eyelash brush for the lashes, then Transform again to mold it to my drawing.
I used the erases tool to erase the white part out of the eye brown eye I had used and added in the two circles for color and pupil.
I used a Brush for the hair, nose, and lips and then tweaked them and made them my own.
I used a brush for the musical background as well as several different brushes for the colored splashes in the back.
The birdie is actually a brush. I did NOT draw that. Poor little guy didn't have an eye so I coped the eye pupil I made for my eye then shrank it to fit him.
I added white circles on the eyes of all for effect.
I filled the hair and then used Dodge and Burn for shading.
I colored her top and then used dodge and burn for shading there as well. Kind of looked like a sweater so I added snowflake brushes to it.
When I added the Birdie I thought of Brave Girls and how they always use "Birdies" in everything they do, so I made my words about Brave Girls.

I sent it in and was honored to be featured for their BG Daily Letters

I could say more, so if you want to know comment and I will tell you.

Other than that, Da-aaam! Not bad for my first digital person eh?

I know I have to work at it more and do some more training with these tools but so far, not bad. I think now I can go on to her other courses where she creates more than people and adds Whimsical Characters etc.

IT has a "look and feel" to it that I want to refine but I think it's kind of cute, don't you?
